Dalang Town, a central town in Guangdong Province, is located in the central south district of Dongguan City, covering an area of 118 square kilometers and governing 28 communities (villages), with a permanent population of 69,000 and an actual population up to 500,000. Dalang town, famous as the “Town of Lichee”, has been awarded a series of honorable titles in recent years, including National Famous Town of Wool Sweaters, National Famous Town of Electronic Information Industry, National Sanitary Town, by the China Association of Textile industry, China Electronic Chamber of Commerce and China National Health Association respectively. It was also the Provincial Educational Town, Provincial Advanced Town of Physical Education, Provincial Professional Town of Pilot Unit for Technical Innovation, and Provincial Town of National Folk Art (lion dance), etc. The town’s GDP in the year 2009 reached 11.6 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5%; the gross industrial output was 22.7 billion yuan; the total export increased by 2.4%, one of the few towns sub-districts in the City with a positive growth. The bank deposit balance at the end of 2009 totaled 14.9 billion yuan, up by 21.5%; the total retail sale of consumer goods was 2.39 billion yuan, a rise of 14%; the total financial revenue was 1.54 billion yuan, rising by 4.1%; the disposable financial revenue of the town was 600 million yuan, up by 6%.
