Transformation of the wool industry is speeding up. The Wool industry is the chief industry of Dalang for income of the people and the significance of the town. A highly-centralized industry cluster enabled Dalang to be appointed as one of the first group of “Pilot Unit of Industry Cluster” in China, one of the “Pilot Unit of Social Responsibility Management Cluster of Chinese Textile and Clothing Enterprises”, one of the three pilot units for establishing regional international brands in Guangdong Province, and one of the first 15 demonstrative upgrading districts of industry cluster. Currently, there are approximately 10,000 wool enterprises in the industry cluster with Dalang as the center, among which over 3,000 are located in Dalang, including approximately 200 enterprises above the designated size, forming a coordinated-process industry assertive chain with R&D, production and processing, raw material and auxiliary material, mechanical equipments, logistics trade, talents training, technical services and information consultation, etc. Annual sales volume of sweaters in the industry cluster exceeds 1.2 billion，among which 0.8 billion sweaters are from Dalang, 60% of Dalang sweaters are exported to Italy and USA, etc. Annual China (Dalang) International Woolen Knitwear Fair has become the brand fair of this industry. In recent years, Dalang Town has been dedicated to leading the enterprises to improve three abilities: R&D, quality control, and marketing plan, accelerate the two transitions of wool industry, i.e. transition from product management to brand management, and transition from production base to regional distribution center. 20 private wool enterprises with the government’s emphasized support have been confirmed; China (Dalang) Woolen Knitwear R&D Center, Guangdong Quality-Control Woolen Knitwear Inspection Station (Dongguan), Dongguan Wool Textile Association, Dongguan Wool Fashion Designer Association, Dalang Wool Textile Technology Innovation Center, and Dalang wool textile website, etc. have been successively established; Graduate Cultivation Base, Graduate Innovation Fund, and Post-doctor Mobile Work Station have been established through cooperation with Xi'an Polytechnic University. These provide a strong support system for upgrading and transition of wool industry.

　　The structure of modern manufacturing is upgrading. Modern manufacturing of Dalang Town is developed and there are more than 4,300 industrial enterprises. In 2007, the number of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 46; with the total number up to 256 and gross production value reaching 17.43 billion Yuan which accounts for 80% of gross industrial production value of the town; the number of industrial enterprises with annual production value exceeding 0.1 billion Yuan, with the total number up to 23 and gross production value reaching 10.34 billion Yuan which accounts for 47.5% of gross industrial production value of the whole town. Equipment manufacturing is the main body of modern manufacturing of Dalang Town, and one of the leading industries of Dalang. There are 571 existing equipment manufacturing enterprises in the town, involving numerical control machine tool, automatic mechanism, precise mould, precise electronic components and injecting auxiliary equipment, etc. In 2007, gross industrial production value of 90 equipment manufacturing enterprises above designated size is 10 billion Yuan, accounting for 46% of gross industrial production value of the town. Dalang has a large group of leading enterprises in this industry, such as: Minglee Steel Mould Products Co., Ltd with annual mould base output of 31,000 tons, ranking the 2nd of this industry in China; Global Machinery Co., Ltd with annual large numerical machine output of approximately 100 sets, is one of the few manufacturers in China; Alfa Automation Machinery Ltd with annual robot arm output of 4,000 sets, ranking the 2nd in China; Maike Technology Co., Ltd with annual secondary battery output of 150 million, ranking the 4th in China; Huaxin Electrical Wire & Cable Co., Ltd with annual bare copper wire output of 125,000 tons, ranking the first of this industry throughout China; Xinyi Electrothermal Machinery Co., Ltd with annual injecting auxiliary equipment output of 24,000 sets, ranking the 1st in China and the 6th in the world; and Huake Electronics Co., Ltd with annual capacitance & resistance output of 204 billion, ranking the 1st in the world for single factory production. Under Dalang’s strategy of “choose the best and support the strong ones”, a large group of leading enterprises, large enterprises and growing enterprises are accelerating their steps in growing and expanding.

　　Emerging industries are growing up. Important technical equipments are settled in Dalang Town. Important technical equipments - China Spallation Neutron Source（CSNS） launched during the 11th Five-Year Plan period, was formally settled in Dalang Town in February, 2007. Planning land for this is 1,000 mu and total investment is 2 billion Yuan. Geological exploration for this project has been finished. CSNS is the first supercurrent proton accelerator-based hi-tech equipment platform in China. Construction of this project will fill the gap of application field of pulse neutron in China, shorten the 30 years’ distance between the field and world cutting-edge technologies, and become one of the four pulse spallation neutron sources of the new generation in the world. Neutron flux of CSNS is only inferior to USA and Japan, but exceeds planning circulating volume of England and is ahead of the preparing projects of South Korea, Germany, India, North Europe and Spain, etc. Therefore, CSNS is of strong international competitiveness. CSNS settlement in Dalang Town will enable Dalang to grow up to be a new hi-tech town, gathering a large group of world-class scientists and experimental users of hi-tech industries, stimulate the births of emerging industries, including medicine, new material and new energy, etc., and provide tremendous thrust for double transitions of Dalang’s economy and society, industrial upgrading and city upgrading, etc. Information industry begins to take shape in Dalang Town. Together, there are 200 electronic information products enterprises, computer service companies and software companies, including 164 electronic information products enterprises and 36 computer service companies and software companies. Cultural and sports industry is flourishing. Blossom of Tianyu Opera House and hot CBA New Century Basketball Team will lead to a group of relevant industries.

 　　Independent innovation ability is continuously enhanced. Dalang has 15 provincial hi-tech enterprises, 9 provincial private hi-tech enterprises, 33 municipal hi-tech enterprises, one scientific research station for post-doctors, and 2 provincial/municipal engineering research and development centers, 7 famous brand products of Guangdong Province, 5 well-known trademarks of Guangdong Province, 4 national inspection-free products, 802 patents, including 32 invention patents, 302 utility model patents and 468 design patents. In 2007, the town was granted 173 patents, including that Duoxiang Computer Design Co., Ltd obtained an invention patent for mainboard collocation to improve computer performance and its mainboard, which fills the gap of China in the field of computer mainboard normative technology.

　　Quality of open economy has been remarkably improved. Dalang has been continuously enlarging the opening field and optimizing the opening structure, focusing on introducing well-known brand enterprises, leading enterprises of various industries and listed companies, which has tremendously improved the quality of opening. There are 508 foreign-invested enterprises in the town, actually utilizing over 8 billion Yuan of foreign capital, among which, Sanxing Steel Processing Co., Ltd and Pangbadi Power Product Factory are enterprises invested by 500 World Top Enterprises; 14 enterprises, such as Huake Electronics, Chuanfei Metal Technology and Didaliang Precise Mould, etc. are enterprises invested by listed companies abroad. In 2007, Dalang was greatly developed and the quality was tremendously improved by utilizing foreign capital. Actually utilized foreign capital is 200 million US dollars (old scope) and foreign capital utilized through agreements and contracts is 163 million US dollars, increased by 76%. Registered capital of each project is 2.41 million US dollars on average, including 6 projects with registered capital of over 5 million US dollars, increased by 3 projects. Investment attracting field has been further enlarged. Not only industrial enterprises like Fujian SBS Zipper, etc. was introduced, but also productive service industries like US GRM Records Management and Tianhong Logistics, etc. were introduced. The quantity of domestic and overseas listed companies in the town is up to 17.

　　Modern service industry is prospering with vigor. Rapid development of Dalang industry, especially city infrastructure’s continuous development of commerce, trade, hotel, traffic, logistics and culture, etc. accelerates the development of the modern service industry. In 2007, 16,900 individual-owned business and private enterprises were registered, increasing by 20.5%; while total retail sale of consumer goods was 1.73 billion Yuan, increasing by 20.5%. Changsheng District, with Changsheng Square as the leading part, is becoming a fashion-leading functional city synthesis integrated with commerce, finance, hotel, creation display, sports culture, entertainment and living, etc., a center of commerce, trade and culture, and a city lobby of Dalang. China•Dalang Woollen Trade Center is the exhibition center with the largest scale and the most advanced equipment throughout the country. Huge crowds of people attend the annual China (Dalang) International Woolen Knitwear Fair. Dalang Central Bus Station, constructed according to provincial first-class standard, can deliver more than 10,000 passengers every day. Dalang International Logistics Center, with daily consigning volume of over 1,000 tons, can directly transport to over 1,000 big, medium and small cities as well as over 30 countries and regions, forming a logistics service system integrated with freight and storage. Royal Garden Hotel is a large business hotel constructed according to internal platinum five-star standard. There are 85 hotels and hostels in total, including one five-star hotel, 3 four-star hotel, 4,500 rooms and 5,600 beds, and 15 comprehensive department stores, covering an area of 76,000 sqm. 
　　The living standards of the people in Dalang are improving. The deposit in urban and rural areas reached RMB7.94 billion by the end of 2007 with a year-on-year increase of 5.4%. The average personal income in rural areas is increased by 8% to RMB13,750. The medical care system in rural areas was further developed. The Songshan Lake Branch of Dalang Hospital was established to make the total branches of Dalang Hospital thirteen. All the farmers in the Rural Area are covered in the Medical Care System. The living standards of the poor and the weak are further improved through the continuous implementation of the activities such as “One to One Help” and so on. The New Dongguaners get more and more care through the activities such as “Top Care”, “Spring Freeze”, “Warm Flow in the City”, and so on. Employment is promoted by establishing public employment service office both in town and in village to help 2381 motor drivers get new jobs. Comprehensive management of social security is enhanced in an all-around way by continuously carrying out a series of special treatments such as fire inspection of small business and recreational spots, motor cycle, illegal internet bar, illegal medicine, quality safety, foods quality, and so on. The social security status is obviously getting better and the environment for business and living is improving, with which the people are very satisfied.
